Why did you choose Cumberland?

In addition to the scholarship package I received, I chose Cumberland because of the familial feel; everyone at Cumberland couldn’t stop talking about how much of a close-knit community Cumberland was. I was excited to experience that for myself. After my first year, I know that everything everyone said about Cumberland was true. Everyone is a family at Cumberland, and it has become my home away from home.

What do you most enjoy about studying law in Birmingham? What do you like to do in Birmingham?

There are a lot of cool, hidden spots around Birmingham and around campus. I enjoy finding new places to study, especially when the weather is nice. I also like to find different restaurants. There are so many nice eateries around the Homewood and Birmingham areas. There are also a great deal of fun social venues downtown that I enjoy going to.

If you could give any advice to your pre-law school self, what would you say?

I would advise myself not to worry too much. I worried about everything my first semester. In law school, it is so easy to become stressed and overwhelmed. But often times, you just have to take a deep breath, do your best, and then rest.
