What do you think is the best thing about Cumberland?

The Law Library is one of the most helpful tools around. The librarians and tech staff are welcoming, relatable, and willing to go above and beyond in order to make sure students are taken care of well.

Why did you choose Cumberland?

I chose Cumberland because the admissions office really made me feel as if I was family. Over the summer I just popped in the office unannounced, everyone jumped up to greet me and make me feel welcome. There on the spot Mrs. Battles gave me a tour of the entire law school and I had the opportunity to talk to several students who were on campus for Bar Prep. Instead of feeling like a student I felt like a family member.

What do you most enjoy about studying law in Birmingham? What do you like to do in Birmingham?

I love that Birmingham has a small town feel but everything that a big city has. You do not have to look far in order to find something fun, new, or exciting to do. I really enjoy hanging out at Red Mountain Park, but if I am not there I am probably checking out a new food truck.

If you could give any advice to your pre-law school self, what would you say?

Do not get caught up in trying to be better than everyone else. Get caught up in being the best version of yourself that you possibly can be. Most importantly, be nice. Smile and wave at people in the hallway or library. People feed off of good energy, and we all can positively affect the environment and atmosphere of the school.

What do you plan to do after graduation?

I’ve moved around so much I honestly do not know what state I will end up in or even what law I will formally practice. What I do know is that, with my Cumberland education, I will be able to be a catalyst for positive change no matter where I end up. My main goal is to make a difference in the world, even if it is just one person at a time.
