Carol Ratcliffe, professor and chair of Samford University’s Department of Healthcare Administration and Analytics, was selected as a 60 for 60 honoree in recognition of the 60th year of integration at the University of Alabama.

The honor was presented earlier this summer by the University of Alabama’s Black Alumni Association, celebrating the achievements and contributions of 60 Black alumni. Ratcliffe is a 1986 graduate of the University of Alabama’s Capstone College of Nursing and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

She has received numerous awards and honors, including induction into the Alabama Nursing Hall of Fame in 2011 and reappointment to the Statewide Health Coordinating Council (SHCC) by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey. The SHCC is responsible for reviewing, revising and preparing the State Health Plan, which is used to develop and operate Alabama’s health systems.

“The School of Public Health congratulates Dr. Ratcliffe on this remarkable achievement,” said Melissa Lumpkin, interim dean of Samford’s School of Public Health, which houses the Department of Healthcare Administration and Informatics. “This is a high honor, and we’re forever grateful for her service.”
