After twenty-five years of owning her own successful piano studio in Atlanta, Ga, Sherry Bruner has relocated to Birmingham, AL. Ms. Bruner received a Bachelor of Science degree in music and education from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She also had the privilege of studying at Samford under Dr. Betty Sue Sheperd. She studied with professors Dr. Joesph Maerz and Dr. Charles Eikner at Wesleyan College while in high school.
While in Atlanta, she was involved in the community by serving on staff as pianist at First Baptist Church Roswell and at Birmingham United Methodist in Milton. She was also engaged as an accompanist for Roswell United Methodist Church. She has worked as an accompanist for over ten churches through the years including First Baptist Church of Jackson, MS.
Ms. Bruner has been a member and officer of the Roswell/Alpharetta Federated Music Club, a local organization of the National Federation of Music Clubs. Her students have received numerous awards including the prestigious president’s award. She has performed with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra. She played in a classical piano quartet, Forty Forte Fingers, which traveled throughout the south performing in colleges and fine arts centers.
She brings many years of teaching experience to the piano studio, having taught beginners to advanced students. Many of her students have continued to enjoy music as a hobby or have gone on to make music their profession. Her goal is to help students feel confident at the piano by giving them clear tools, supportive guidance, and a strong musical foundation. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes strong reading foundations and efficient practice strategies. Her hope as a teacher is to help each student develop a genuine passion and love of music.
