On Feb. 9, 1988, the Samford Board of Trustees voted to establish the Samford School of Divinity.
One year later, the name changed to Beeson Divinity School. In April 1988, Samford President Thomas Corts invited Timothy George to serve as the school’s founding dean, who was officially installed on Feb. 21, 1989.
Over the next year, we will be celebrating our 35th anniversary as a divinity school in various ways to be announced at a later date.
