Beeson Divinity School’s Lay Academy of Theology Spring Courses Begin Feb. 21

Beeson Divinity School’s Lay Academy of Theology will begin its spring 2022 classes on Feb. 21. For more than 20 years, Beeson Divinity faculty have taught these noncredit, six-week courses for interested laity as well as ministers seeking continuing education.

Courses offered this spring include: Genesis: The God Who Creates, Blesses and Transforms; The Life and Witness of Dietrich Bonhoeffer; The Early Christians: What They Believed and How They Worshipped; and The Book of Acts.

The course schedule is as follows:

Genesis: The God Who Creates, Blesses and Transforms
Mondays, 2-4 p.m.
Begins Feb. 21, 2022
Instructor: Kenneth A. Mathews, professor of Hebrew and Old Testament

The Life and Witness of Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Mondays, 6-8 p.m.
Begins Feb. 21, 2022
Instructor: Michael Pasquarello III, Methodist Chair of Divinity, director of the Robert Smith Jr. Preaching Institute, director of Doctor of Ministry

The Early Christians: What They Believed and How They Worshipped
Tuesdays, 6-8 p.m.
Begins Feb. 22, 2022
Instructor: Carl Beckwith, professor of history and doctrine

The Book of Acts
Wednesdays, 6-8 p.m.
Begins Feb. 23, 2022
Instructor: Sydney Park, associate professor of Greek and New Testament

The cost is $89 if attending on campus and $69 if participating virtually. Discount rates will expire starting on Feb. 14. The cost is $115/$95 thereafter. Registration can be completed online or by mail.
