The Religious Communicators Council recognized Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School for its excellence in religious communications and public relations at the annual DeRose-Hinkhouse Memorial Awards ceremony.

The 2024 Beeson magazine was named “Best of Show” by the RCC, the top honor among the DeRose-Hinkhouse awards. The issue also won first place among all periodicals and the magazine category.

The featured story in last year’s magazine, which focused on now-retired preaching professor Robert Smith Jr., won first place in the category of articles and stories. In the same category, three other stories received certificates of appreciation. The three stories featured recent Beeson graduates—Morgan Champion, Josiah Trombley and Joshua Hedrick—as they neared the end of their seminary journey.

Beeson’s website placed first among all organizational websites, while the school’s brochure was given a certificate of appreciation in the booklet category. The Beeson Podcast was also given a certificate of appreciation in the podcast series category.

Beeson’s promotional video, “Experience the Beeson Difference,” won first place in the category of promotional/informational video. In total, the RCC recognized Beeson for 11 awards during their ceremony.

At the annual Wilmer C. Fields Awards Competition, conducted by the Baptist Communicators Association, Beeson claimed five more awards.

Beeson’s website won second place among organizational or company websites with more than 25 pages in the interactive communications category.

The aforementioned article on Smith won second place for a single article, more than 1,500 words, in the feature writing category, while Beeson’s brochure won second place for design in print booklets. Two Beeson ads— “Local Training” and “Who Will You Become?” —finished first and second, respectively, for design among digital advertisements.
