There will be many times when legal research may involve looking beyond what can be found in the traditional legal databases that are available through the online library of the Lucille Stewart Beeson Law Library. For example, there may be times when you might have to dig a little deeper to find special statistics that cannot be found in the legal databases. Also, there may be times when you might have to dig deeper to understand the history associated with a particular topic that might not be covered thoroughly in legal information sources. Fortunately, there are resources available to help you expand your research.  As members of the Samford community, Cumberland law students have access to many of the databases that are available through the Samford University Library.

The Samford University Library databases cover a wide-range of subjects which include art, business, communication studies, education, nonprofit organizations, public health, religious studies, Shakespeare, and much, much more.  Library Research Guides are available to assist with locating information within the various topic areas.  Some of the databases that are available include:

America: History and Life
Articles about North American history

Fine Arts (Gale OneFile)
Collection of fine arts and music periodicals

Business Insights: Essentials (from the Alabama Virtual Library)
Periodicals, company profiles, and industry overviews

Educator’s Reference Complete

Remember that these are only a few of the databases that are available.
