Madison Peace Nye is an assistant professor of Legal Research and Writing at Cumberland School of Law. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from The King's College (New York City) and a Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University School of Law. During law school, she served as the editor-in-chief of the Washington and Lee Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice and as a student attorney in the Virginia Capital Case Clearinghouse clinic, where she assisted with capital defense representation and represented incarcerated men before the Virginia Parole Board. Before attending law school, she worked in editorial and nonprofit communications and was a Robert Novak Journalism Alumni Fellow, completing a lengthy journalistic project on criminal-justice reform and rehabilitation.

 

Before joining Cumberland, Nye served as a term clerk to the Honorable Karon O. Bowdre of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama and to Justice Jay Mitchell of the Supreme Court of Alabama. Most recently, she was an associate in the Government Investigations and White Collar Defense practice group of an AmLaw 200 law firm in Birmingham, Alabama.
