What do you think is the best thing about Cumberland School of Law?

The best thing about Cumberland is the people! Everyone is truly so nice and welcoming!

Why did you choose Cumberland School of Law?

The moment I stepped into the building I could tell how welcoming and friendly everyone was. It made me feel comfortable and like I belonged.

What do you most enjoy about studying law in Birmingham? What do you like to do in Birmingham?

I love Birmingham because you truly never run out of things to do. It has a surplus of shopping, restaurants, and night life, while also having tons of parks and outdoor places to explore. Birmingham has numerous state parks, all within an hour of the city! Samford even has a walking path right across the road!

Birmingham also always has some sort of festival or event going on, including my favorites - taco fest and the Greek festival! The world games are being held in Birmingham this year! The city has numerous sport teams! The Birmingham Barons, a minor league baseball team, is a favorite of students!! Birmingham also has a new UFSL football team, the Stallions, and a new NBA G basketball team, the Squadron!

Student Organizations/Extracurricular Activities

I am participating in the joint master’s degree program through Samford! While I am obtaining my JD from Cumberland, I am also obtaining my master’s in environmental management! I am a member of Cumberland’s Women in Law group as well as the Alabama Student Bar Association.

If you could give any advice to your pre-law school self, what would you say?

First, I cannot recommend the summer classes enough. Not only do you get a great introduction into studying for classes and taking exams, but you also get to start off the semester with great friends. The classes give you an unparalleled advantage.

Secondly, give yourself grace.  This upcoming year will be nothing like you have ever done before - it will be nothing like undergrad. You have to be easy on yourself and know that while they may not show it, everyone is in the same situation you are. You WILL figure it out, and you WILL succeed. Just give yourself grace, take it day by day, and do the best you can.

What do you plan to do after graduation?

After graduation, I plan on working in some sector of environmental law.
