The best thing about Cumberland is the support system of both students and faculty available to help you every step of the way.

Why did you choose Cumberland School of Law?

I chose Cumberland because I knew it was a school where I could explore my different interests in the legal field and have access to excellent resources to ensure success.

What do you most enjoy about studying law in Birmingham? What do you like to do in Birmingham?

Birmingham provides access to a large legal network, as well as serving as a great pipeline to create connections in other cities such as Atlanta or Nashville. While being a large city, Birmingham still offers a “hometown” feel that is prevalent when networking with attorneys in the area and allows you to establish real relationships with one another.

I enjoy the food scene in Birmingham! While volunteering at the Pepper’s Place Farmer’s Market, I am learning a lot about farms in Alabama and how many restaurants support these local farmers when curating their menus. Supporting local farmers is something I am passionate about, so seeing high-end dining restaurants also serve farm-to-table is one of my favorite aspects of the food scene in Birmingham.

If you could give any advice to your Pre-Law school self, what would you say?

The best advice I would give to any prospective students is to create a schedule to keep in contact with your friends outside of law school. The year will be chaotic, and the weeks go by fast in the “law school bubble.” It is important to make time for those outside of law school and can often serve as a necessary breath of fresh air.

What do you plan to do after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to move back to my home state and take the California State Bar. Maybe get a dog!
