Legal Interests

I have not decided on which legal field I want to practice at this time. Writing this during 2L summer, I am trying to take every opportunity to gain experience in new fields and meet people who do the work. It is an exciting time and lends itself to learning about multiple practice areas.

Swimming, drawing, exploring Birmingham

What do you think is the best thing about Cumberland School of Law?

Cumberland’s community is unlike any you will find elsewhere. It is a collaborative and supportive environment that carries well beyond matters of law school. It exists not only in the students, but alumni who are willing to help you whenever you are in need.

Why did you choose Cumberland School of Law?

I chose Cumberland because I valued a strong sense of community while going through law school. I am also from Birmingham and wanted to go where I could build and strengthen relationships with family, friends, and professionals.

What do you most enjoy about studying law in Birmingham? What do you like to do in Birmingham?

As far as the study of law goes, the access to Birmingham’s strong legal market is unparalleled. I regularly attend lunches, happy hours, and networking events with attorneys and judges. As a whole, the city lends itself to a strong young life with many restaurants and venues to visit with friends.

Student Organizations/Extracurricular Activities

Student Bar Association, Admission Ambassadors, Alabama Bar, Federalist Society, Sports and Entertainment Law Society, J.D./M.B.A. joint degree

If you could give any advice to your pre-law school self, what would you say?

Stay positive. There are so many aspects of law school that people hear and stress about, but there are also so many aspects that make it an incredible experience. Get to know the people in your class and take all the opportunities you are offered. If you do these things, it becomes a very enjoyable experience and allows you to build many close relationships.

What do you plan to do after graduation?

After graduation I plan to stay in Birmingham and work for a law firm here in town. I love this city, its legal community, and am excited about the prospect of being a part of it.
