In partnership with numerous student organizations, and to contribute to the ABA's Mental Health Awareness initiative for law schools, Cumberland School of Law's Academic Support Program has organized numerous opportunities for students to engage and participate in health and wellness activities.

6 a.m. - Academic Support Program's Sunrise Social on the Angel Patio

8 a.m. - Mindful Moment in the Mezzanine (or via Zoom)

  • 11 a.m. - Attend your organization's meeting (limited in number in person)
  • 11 a.m. - Attend the Career Development Office Zoom on Professionalism by Zoom (see email from Assistant Dean Allen Howell)
  • 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. - Tennessee Bar Association Yoga with instructor from High Point Climbing Gym on the Angel Plaza (weather permitting) or in Room 120 if it rains.

3:30 p.m. (4:30 p.m. EST) - American Bar Association's Mental Health Webinar
Exploring the Intersection Between Racial Justice, Social Activism, and Mental Health

Joithe ABA for a national webinar featuring Professor Rhonda Magee , author of "The Inner Work of Racial Justice: Healing Ourselves and Transforming Our Communities Through Mindfulness," professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law, and a new member of the ABA CoLAP. The webinar will include an Introduction by Janet Stearns, dean of students at the University of Miami School of Law, and member of the ABA CoLAP, as well as Ayat Nizam, student at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and chair of the ABA Law Student Division.

6 p.m. - Mindfulness in Law Society (MILS)/Alabama Chapter via Zoom

12 p.m. (1 p.m. EST) - American Bar Association's Mental Health Day National Workshop

National Workshop with the ABA Law Student Division, Law School SBA presidents and ABA representatives; featuring Jordana Confino, Fordham Law School, author of Where Are We on the Path to Law Student Well-Being (a report of the ABA CoLAP Law School Survey); Janet Stearns (dean of students, University of Miami School of Law) and David Jaffe (associate dean of student affairs, Washington College of Law, American University) to discuss practical strategies that law students can undertake in the year ahead with your law schools, the ABA, and with each state bar board of examiners.

3 p.m. - Samford University's March for Social Justice for all Samford students, faculty and staff

A day of well-being. Each and every one of us can up our commitment to make the time to move around, whether outdoors or indoors, and stay healthy.

Choose your activity, and post a picture using the hashtags #LawStudentWellness and #ABAMentalHealth.

8 a.m. - Mindful Walk at Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Meet at the entrance (weather permitting)

9 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Visit the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama

11 a.m. - 10 p.m. - Watch your favorite football team

Any time of day:

  • Spend time with family or friends in a SAFE, MASKED, SOCIALLY DISTANCED way
  • Take a walk
  • Garden or simply stop to "smell the roses"
  • Cultivate joy in your time and space for at least one hour on Saturday
