Student Organizations/Extracurricular Activities

At Cumberland, I have enjoyed being involved in Christian Legal Society, First Generation Law Society, Women in Law, Trial Advocacy Junior Board, Alternative Dispute Resolution Junior Board, and also enjoyed participating in the Williams 1L Trial Competition as a witness and competing the the Donworth 1L Moot Court Competition.

Legal Interests

I am interested in pursuing a career in medical-related litigation. To reach this goal I am hoping to pursue a joint degree at Cumberland and receiving my LLM on a Health Law and Compliance track.

Outside Interests/Hobbies

Outside of law school, I enjoy making sourdough, reading mystery novels/audiobooks, and watching movies (my favorites are Adam Sandler movies)!

What do you think is the BEST thing about Cumberland?

I think the people are the best thing about Cumberland! The culture at Cumberland is what sets it apart from other law schools. The students are eager to support one another and enjoy serving the Cumberland community in a variety of ways. The professors are also quick to offer support in understanding difficult topics, discussing jobs, or even talking through life outside of law school.

Why did you choose Cumberland?

I chose Cumberland for the opportunities to get involved on campus and gain hands-on experience. I knew that Cumberland would prepare me well going into a career in the legal profession because of the opportunities to participate in several on-campus organizations, along with opportunities to compete with incredible trial advocacy, moot court, and alternative dispute resolution teams. Having received my undergraduate degree from Samford, I have seen first-hand the university's commitment to its students and can confidently say that that commitment extends to the law school.

What do you most enjoy about studying law in Birmingham? What do you like to do in Birmingham?

The legal community in Birmingham is prominent and filled with attorneys that are willing and excited to get to know Cumberland students! Attorneys in the area are eager to mentor and teach aspiring attorneys and are constantly serving law students whether it is at events on campus or in the community. Birmingham is a great place to build your network!

Not only is Birmingham a great place to learn from attorneys in the area, but there is always something fun to do! Birmingham has great food and there is almost always something going on on the weekends.

If you could give any advice to your pre-law school self, what would you say?

I would tell my pre-law school self to be more confident in my ability to succeed! Anything is possible when you are committed to it! Law school can feel really intimidating, but the admissions staff and current students are always willing to help and I wish they were a resource I utilized more. It's also important to remember that every prospective law student is in the same boat as you and you are not behind by not taking a traditional track to get to law school.

What do you plan to do after graduation?

I am open-minded to any opportunities that present themselves after graduation!
