Our Detachment

Detachment 012, located at Samford University, serves the entire Birmingham area. With students coming from Samford University, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Miles College, Jefferson State Community College, University of Montevallo, and Birmingham Southern. The "Dirty Dozen" have been completing their mission of recruiting, training, educating, and commissioning the best 2nd lieutenants in the United States Air Force for the past 74 years. With an average freshman class of 20 cadets, Det 012 offers individual instruction and great opportunities to lead. Cadets commissioning from Det 012 have gone on to be pilots, navigators, dieticians, behavioral psychologists, nurses, doctors, dentists, engineers and much more. We have a tradition of excellence and work our hardest to help every cadet succeed in the program. If you are interested in joining our team of outstanding future leaders for America's Air Force, click on the Contact Us page and let us know!
