Dana Waldrop joined the Samford family in October 2019 and brings multiple years’ experience from the realm of public education. Waldrop has served as a music educator and professional school counselor in a variety of school settings. Most recently, she served as assistant director of Samford’s Career Development Center where she was responsible for assisting students with choosing and exploring majors, gaining work-related experience, and all aspects of post-graduation preparation. In addition, she coordinated Teacher Interview Day in collaboration with the Orlean Beeson School of Education, hosted the Non-Profit Lunch and Learn, and coordinated the Job & Internship Fair.
As the director of Professional Success in Brock School of Business, Waldrop will work toward developing and building partnerships, internships and full-time opportunities locally and regionally for students; coordinate Brock School of Business' academic internship program for pre-professional business experience; and work with students over their Brock School of Business tenure relative to academic exploration, self-discovery, career information, interview preparedness and job searching.
Waldrop is a Samford graduate where she received a Bachelor of Music Education with choral and voice concentrations. She received a Master of Education from the University of Montevallo in School Counseling. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and has held leadership positions with the Alabama School Counseling Association, Alabama Possible and the Southern Association for College Admissions Counselors.
