Academy of the Arts
Cliff Brane created images with words for 25 years as a radio talent, commercial copywriter, and newsman. His voice and sales ability have taken him across the country… as far east as Pennsylvania, as far west as New Mexico, as far north as Minnesota, and as far south as Georgia and Alabama. From 1995 to 2017, he sold and created print advertising for Birmingham area clients. Through this work, he developed a sense for the content and composition of photos as a necessary ingredient to attract attention to and define the category of his clients’ businesses. He has been studying photography intensely since 2009, and has created photographic projects around marching bands, baseball, football, golf, circus, concerts, opera and the landscapes and people of the Florida Gulf Coast and the Valley of Virginia. His work has appeared in various publications and hangs in private homes. Mr. Brane received his Capstone Certificate from ACA in 2016 and has studied Marketing Fine Art Photography and Portfolio Development through the Griffin Museum of Photography in Massachusetts. Most recently he attended an educators’ class in photo criticism taught by fine art photographer Andrea Modica at the Maine Media Workshops & College in Rockport, ME. Mr. Brane currently teaches AOA classes in Landscape/Outdoor Photography, Inkjet Printing and Photo Appreciation. His website is www.cliffbrane.com and additionally on Instagram.
