Since 1847, Cumberland School of Law has been educating lawyers who excel in scholarship and in making a difference in their community and their profession. In its long history, Cumberland School of Law has produced more than 13,000 law graduates and boasts more than 9,000 active alumni, representing academic excellence in the legal field in nearly every state and several foreign countries. You’ll find our graduates serving as judges and elected representatives, prosecuting crimes as district and U.S. attorneys, teaching, performing research, and in countless other ways, including significant pro bono work, bringing honor to the profession and to the law school.

Our national alumni association is a strong and active organization working to support and strengthen the ties among graduates of the Cumberland School of Law. In addition to providing significant financial contributions to support the institution (and keep tuition affordable), our alumni assist with continuing legal education and career development programs, serve on advisory boards, chair class reunions, host receptions and other events and mentor students from their towns and cities.

Clark Gillespy“My time at Cumberland was the cornerstone of my education. It armed me with the legal knowledge I would need to graduate law school, become a member of three bars, move to Europe, and begin practicing international law. It provided me with the confidence, resources and contacts I needed over the years to expand my legal horizon and a solid foundation on which to move from the practice of law to the application of legal knowledge.” —Clark Gillespy ’87, Global Head, Data Center for Economic Development, Google, Sunnyvale, California

Kate Belyayeva“Growing up, I rarely felt like I was a part of something greater than myself. I did not play sports nor was I a part of any social clubs. Of course, I have met some people with my shared interests throughout high school and college, but it was not until law school that I met so many people with a shared purpose. Together, we experienced the good and the bad while creating a bond that undoubtedly will last for years. I look forward to seeing them all grow, develop and reach great success in both their careers and personal lives.” —Kate Belyayeva '22, Associate Attorney at Maynard Cooper & Gale
