Dr. Lydia A. Thurston serves as associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy.  She attended University of Alabama at Birmingham, receiving her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 2001 and her Doctorate of Science Degree in 2007. She has been a certified athletic trainer since 2003. Thurston has over a decade of clinical experience in outpatient orthopedic sports physical therapy and inpatient acute care pediatric practices, with specialized training in women’s health and burn rehabilitation. She has publications in the areas of orthopedics, pelvic health, interprofessional practice & education, and health behavior. Thurston lives in Birmingham with her husband, Michael and their two children.
