What do you think is the best thing about Cumberland School of Law?
Hands down, the best thing about Cumberland is the people! You hear so many horror stories about law school and how cut-throat people can be, and my experience could not be further from that. I have made so many genuine friendships that I know will last a lifetime, and I could not make it through the stress of law school without my friends by my side!
Why did you choose Cumberland School of Law?
I grew up moving around a lot and was looking for a place that felt like home. The second I stepped foot on campus, it was evident there was something special about this place. Watching how everyone interacted with one another, it was so clear that all the students and faculty had a genuine love for the school. After seeing that I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else!!
What do you most enjoy about studying law in Birmingham? What do you like to do in Birmingham?
When I came to Cumberland, I did not know a single person in Birmingham, and I was amazed at how accepting everyone was of me. The best thing about Birmingham is that it is a big city, but it feels like a small town - especially for the legal community. Cumberland alumni have been so willing to help me, whether that be looking for a job or just wanting to chat about law school! I like to explore Birmingham and try new restaurants in my free time.

If you could give any advice to your pre-law school self, what would you say?
RELAX! I was so nervous about the whole experience that I don’t think I slept for a week leading up to school starting. Law school is not as scary as it seems, and you are exactly where you are supposed to be, so stop stressing!
What do you plan to do after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to stay in Birmingham and work for a law firm where I hope to use my law degree in a way that can make a difference in people’s lives.
