Generous scholarships enable us to open our doors to student leaders whose talents and achievements will have a wide influence.

Purposeful-Faithful-Real Scholarship

The Office of Greek Life will reward scholarships to one male and one female student that exemplify Greek Life at Samford. Students will be awarded a scholarship in the amount of $1,000. When combined with other Samford funded aid this scholarship may not exceed a student’s charges for tuition, fees, room, and board. The scholarship will be rewarded based on a resume and essay submission to the following prompt. A panel of Samford faculty and staff will judge essays based on a rubric that embodies the prompt and resumes based on students’ experiences encompassing service, leadership, scholarship, and personal development.

Outstanding Panhellenic Woman Scholarship

The Panhellenic Executive Council will reward three Panhellenic women that demonstrate exceptional inclusivity, friendship, and commitment to the women in their lives. Students will be awarded a scholarship in the amount of $1000 in the Fall semester. When combined with other Samford aid this scholarship may not exceed a student’s chargers for tuition, fees, room, and board. The scholarship will be rewarded based on a nomination from their chapter President and an essay submission to the following prompt. The Interfratenity (IFC) Executive Council will reward two IFC men that demonstrate exceptional academic, leadership, and service within the fraternity community. This scholarship is designed to honor individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to upholding the values of brotherhood, academic excellence, and community engagement. Students will be awarded a scholarship in the amount of $1000 in the Fall semester. When combined with other Samford aid this scholarship may not exceed a student’s charges for tuition, fees, room, and board. The scholarship will be rewarded based on a nomination from their chapter President and an essay submission to the following prompt. NPHC Outstanding Member Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • The scholarship is open to members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) organizations, including Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc...  The applicants must be in good standing with the University, must have a 3.34 cumulative GPA or higher, and must have a FAFSA for the current year on file with the Office Student Financial Services

Application process:

  • Applicants must submit academic transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and a personal statement of 700 words or less, outlining their involvement in their NPHC organization, their contributions to their community, and how their future career will improve the community.
  • Essays must be within a minimum of 400 words and a maximum of 700 words.

Selection criteria:

  • The scholarship will be awarded based on academic achievement, leadership within the NPHC organization, community service involvement, and financial need.

Award amount:

  • The NPHC Scholarship will be in the amount of $1,000.00.

  • The scholarship aims to support and recognize the academic and leadership achievements of NPHC members and provide financial assistance for their educational pursuits.

Deadline:

  • The scholarship application deadline is October 1.

Recognition:

  • Recipients of the scholarship will be recognized at NPHC events or through the organization's communication channels to showcase their accomplishments and contributions.

Jessica Smith Panhellenic Service Award

Established June 24, 2014 in memory of Jessica Marie Smith, a Samford history major and member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.  Scholarship shall be made annually to a currently enrolled Samford student(s) who have demonstrated an "above and beyond" commitment to the community through service and other goodwill endeavors that benefit those in need beyond what is expected of the person, or any affiliations which they may hold.

Alpha Delta Pi Kappa Chapter Endowed and Annual Scholarship

Established July 2013 with gifts from members and friends of Alpha Delta Pi.  Scholarship recipients must be an active member of Alpha Delta Pi Kappa Chapter and actively involved in at least two other campus activities while maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0. Please submit the completed application to Sheri Ransome by March 1.

Alpha Omicron Pi Ruby A Endowed and Annual Scholarship

Established 2013, scholarship recipients are to be active members of Alpha Omicron Pi International Fraternity and an active member of the Rho Delta chapter who holds a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and is actively involved in at least two other campus activities.

Chi Omega Zeta Zeta Legacy Annual and Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2011 in honor and celebration of the Zeta Zeta chapter's 50th anniversary.  Scholarships to be awarded to students who are active members of the Chi Omega fraternity and an active member of the Zeta Zeta chapter who hold a cumulative GPA of 3.3. Please submit the completed application to zetazetascholarships@gmail.com by March 1.

Established May 1, 2012 by Zeta Tau Alpha alumnae with the purpose to identify and honor active Zeta Tau Alpha members who exemplify the motto, "Seek the Noblest." Please submit the completed application to the current academic chair of the Zeta Tau Alpha Delta Psi Chapter by March 1.

Men of Principle Scholarship

Established in 1999, the Fraternity made an effort to move back being a values based organization. In the years since the Beta Theta Pi Foundation has provided a $1,000 grant to each chapter to award scholarships to unaffiliated (non-Greek) male leaders in the Samford community who live our values.

Lambda Chi Alpha Legacy Scholarship

Established August 2013, scholarship recipients shall be entering freshmen with a 3.0 or higher high school GPA and a 25 or higher ACT score or current Samford students with a 2.5 cumulative Samford GPA with preference given to Samford Lambda Chi Alpha legacies then other Lambda Chi Alpha legacies who are full time enrolled undergraduate or graduate students.

Stephen D. Williams Pi Kappa Phi Memorial Scholarship

Established by gifts from the brothers and friends of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and the Williams family, recipients shall be a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity in good academic standing who is a sophomore or above with demonstrated financial hardship.

Copeland-Sigma Chi Scholarship

Established in 1989 in memory of Rex Bartley Copeland, to be awarded each January to the Sigma Chi brother who earned the highest grade point average in the previous fall semester.
