Posted by Mary Wimberley on 2002-05-31

Summer classes and a variety of camps and conferences will begin at Samford University Monday (JUNE 3). About 1,045 Samford students are expected to enroll in the first summer term, which will end July 3.

The campus will host several groups of international students during June and July. Seven Brazilian attorneys and judges will participate in a Master of Comparative Law degree program sponsored by Samford's Cumberland School of Law. Five pharmacy students and two faculty members from Meijo University in Nagoya, Japan, will study at Samford's McWhorter School of Pharmacy.

Many community residents will participate in a variety of summer programs. Offerings range from sports and music camps for children to the Institute for Genealogy and Historical Research, which draws professional and serious amateur genealogists from throughout the country.

A record number of 91 Samford students will study abroad this summer. In addition to 55 students studying in Spain, other groups will be in Germany, Ecuador and France, as well as at Samford's London Study Centre in England.
