Samford Theatre Presents ´Dancing at Lughnasa' Nov. 6-9
Samford University Theatre will present Brian Friel's Tony award-winning Irish drama, "Dancing at Lughnasa," Nov. 6-9 in Bolding Studio, Swearingen Hall.
The play, set in 1936 Ireland, explores a month in the lives of five impoverished women who attempt to fight their fate with extraordinary resilience.
The cast includes student actors Cody Hays, Sevawn Foster, Sarah Chase Kee, Annie Hackney, Hannah Seymour, Chelsea Reynolds, Lisa Jane Wright and Jacob Simmons.
Birmingham attorney and community theatre actor John Falkenberry is cast in the role of the sisters' older brother, Jack, a former Catholic missionary who has encountered struggles with his faith.
Samford theatre department chair Dr. Don Sandley directs the production.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6-8 and 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 9. Tickets are $12 adult, $9 senior adult over age 55, and $6 student/child.
