Samford Football Aids Freshmen on Move-In Day
Members of the Samford football team took time out of their schedule to help Samford's freshmen move into their dorms Thursday morning.
The Bulldogs helped freshmen move into Vail, Smith and Pittman Halls on Samford's campus.
"We had yesterday off from practice, but we are kind of getting another one in this morning with helping with move-in day," senior quarterback Jefferson Adcock said. "We are just trying to help everyone who is moving in. We want to get as many people out for the first game as we can and generate some interest in the team, and I think this is a great way to do it."
More than 700 freshmen moved on to campus for the first time Thursday morning, and director of student activities and leadership education Jennifer Dunn-Hall said the players were a tremendous help with the process.
"Today was great because we had about 80 football players show up to help us with move-in day," Hall said. "They have strong arms, and we have a lot of refrigerator boxes that they have helped move in. That was a wonderful idea to send them out and we could use them every year on move-in day."
The Bulldogs will practice Thursday afternoon after taking Wednesday off. The team will hit the field at 3:15 p.m.
Samford opens the 2007 season on Thursday, Aug. 30, when the Bulldogs play host to West Alabama. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
