Katie Ghossein MS, RD, LD is a wellness outpatient dietitian and trained Lifestyle Coach for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Diabetes Prevention Program. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition from the University of Alabama and completed her dietetic internship and master's degree in Nutrition Sciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Katie recently achieved full recognition from the CDC for St. Vincent's Health System's Diabetes Prevention Program, Prevent T2, a year-long lifestyle change program that can help prediabetics and high risk individuals reduce their risk for developing diabetes by 58%. As a clinical dietitian in long term care, Katie realized how much we miss out on valuable nutrition and lifestyle education that can prevent most chronic conditions which can lead to hospitalization and nursing home stays. Her career goal is to educate as many individuals as possible in what healthy living actually means and how easily it can be achieved with small, simple behavior modifications. She believes the recipe for success includes knowledge in all facets of our lifestyle-food, movement, emotional health and sleep. When we have the knowledge, we have the power to make the best decisions for our individual journey to living a healthier life.
