Rachel Stokes is a public health professional and educator specializing in environmental health, epidemiology, and community health. With extensive experience across federal, nonprofit, and academic settings, Dr. Stokes has led environmental health programs, food safety initiatives, outbreak response efforts, and community-based injury prevention work. Her career includes significant service with the Indian Health Service, where she conducted environmental health assessments, supported infectious disease surveillance, and strengthened Tribal capacity through policy development, training, and public education.

She has developed and delivered national trainings on topics including climate change, food safety, water quality, and environmental health preparedness. She has taught a wide range of courses and trainings for academic institutions, public health departments, and communities across the United States and its territories.

An active member of APHA and NEHA, Dr. Stokes is committed to advancing the environmental health workforce and improving health outcomes through data-informed decision-making, community engagement, and applied public health practice. Her recent research focuses on climate change, children’s environmental health, and data modernization in environmental health.
