Step One: Submit an Interest Form

Students interested in the Fast‑Track Dietetics Program should submit an interest form as early as possible and contact akustos@samford.edu to schedule a meeting with admissions staff. Early advising ensures appropriate course sequencing and eligibility.

Step Two: Complete an Approval Form

During your junior year, you will be required to fill out the Application Form to request permission to enroll in the Master of Science in Nutrition, Dietetics Concentration courses during your senior year. The application deadline is January 15. 

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

• Submit a completed Application Form with resume
• Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA
• Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in prerequisite coursework
• Complete all required prerequisite courses with a grade of C or better, unless otherwise noted:

• Statistics or Business Math
• Psychology or Sociology
• General Chemistry 
• Organic Chemistry 
• Biochemistry 
• Anatomy & Physiology 
• NUTR 412: Quantity Food Production and Management or Microbiology
• NUTR 220: Nutrition Science for Health Professions or NUTR 500: Principles of Human Nutrition (minimum grade of B required)
• Complete all convocation credit by the end of the junior year

Transcripts

Applicants must have official transcript records on file with Samford University. Transcripts are considered official only when sent directly from the issuing institution.

Admission Review Criteria

Admission is competitive and based on a holistic review of the following:

• Cumulative undergraduate GPA (minimum 3.0 required)
• Prerequisite GPA (minimum 3.0 required)
• Resume
• Completion and academic performance in required prerequisite coursework

Admission to the Dietetics Concentration is competitive and limited by program capacity. Each entering cohort is capped at 20 total students.

Up to five (5) spaces per year are reserved for qualified Fast‑Track Dietetics students from Samford University. Fast‑track applicants who are not selected for one of the reserved fast‑track spaces may still be considered for admission. These applicants will be ranked competitively alongside applicants from outside Samford University based on the program’s standard admission review criteria.

Meeting minimum eligibility or GPA requirements does not guarantee admission.
