As the first graduate faculty member to be hired at Ida Moffett School of Nursing in 1996, Jane S. Martin has played a large role in the growth and development of the school’s program. "My job was to coordinate the family nurse practitioner program. I had four students in the first class," she said. "It was my job to develop all of the nurse practitioner courses and to develop all of the clinical sites for the program." Over the years, when she has not been busy raising rescue cats—she currently has three, Charles, William and Harry—or indulging in her love of antiques and vintage things, Martin has continued to make an impact at the nursing school and beyond. Her biggest accomplishment still remains attending the graduation in May 1998 for the first graduating master of science in nursing [M.S.N.] class. "I felt like I had played an important role in that big accomplishment."
