Cynthia Barginere, DNP ’12, was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Ill.
Cristy Daffron, DNP ’12, Debbie Duke, ASN ’95, BSN ’00, MSN ’12, and faculty member Gretchen McDaniel presented “Providing Eloquent Spiritual Care” and “Taboo Topics of the Church Conference: Ministering to the Forgotten” at the 2015 Westberg Symposium in Memphis, Tenn.
Rita Revak-Lutz, DNP ’14, received the first Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Fla.
Kathleen Bennett, BSN ‘14, received the Children’s of Alabama Daisy Award for providing remarkable patient experiences that demonstrate caring and compassion.
Christopher Hulin, DNP ’10, was named President of Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia in Madison, Tenn.

Lora Bradshaw, nurse anesthesia student, will have a podium presentation, “Anesthetic Management of Patients with Prader Willi Syndrome” at the Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists Fall Meeting in October.
Elizabeth Broome, nurse anesthesia student, had a case study, “One-lung ventilation for total pneumonectomy,” published in the International Student Journal of Nurse Anesthesia.
Pam Cherry, DNP student, will present her capstone project at the annual Tennessee Nurses Association conference in Nashville, Tenn. in October.
Chaunice Neal, BSN student, presented “Overcoming Retakes: A Psychological Process,” at the National Black Nurses Association 43rd Annual Institute & Conference in Atlanta, Ga.

Geri Beers and Cindy Berry presented “Traditional vs. Electronic Resources for Students and Faculty in Clinical Nursing Courses” in San Antonio, TX.
Amy Bigham presented “Strategies for Designing Interprofessional Education Projects in Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing Programs” in a webinar for NurseTim, Inc. in Birmingham, Ala. and “Exploring the use of Avatars as Standardized Patients” at the National League for Nursing’s Elsevier Technology Conference in Nashville, Tenn.
Amy Bigham, Andrea Collins, Cyndi Cortes, Jill Cunningham, Arlene Hayne, Jane Holston, Sharron Schlosser, Lora Shelton and Stephanie Wynn earned the Certified Online Instructor designation from LERN.
Heidi Callighan, Lisa Gurley and Amber Patrick successfully defended their dissertation proposals in the Ph.D. program at William Carey University.
Terri Cahoon was appointed to the Alabama Board of Nursing Advanced Practice Advisory Council.
Jennifer Coleman received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Alabama League for Nursing and the Community Health Innovation Award from the UAB Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences.

Andrea Collins’s manuscript “Evaluation and Treatment of Vitamin D Deficiency” was accepted for publication by The Nurse Practitioner.
Cyndi Cortes was selected to serve as a Fulbright Scholar Discipline Peer Reviewer for the 2016-2017 review cycle and was appointed to the editorial board of International Journal of Nursing and Clinical Practices.
Jill Cunningham was appointed to the Alabama Board of Nursing Advanced Practice Advisory Council.
Margie Findlay was appointed chair of the Office of Women’s Health Steering Committee for the Alabama Department of Public Health and co-chair of the planning committee for the Office of Women’s Health Eight Annual Women’s Health Update.
Margie Findlay presented “Women’s Health Information for the Incarcerated (WHI-FI): An Office of Women’s Health Initiative,” at the Office of Women’s Health Eighth Annual Women’s Health Update in Birmingham, Ala.
Margie Findlay’s “Preparing Nurse Faculty in a DNP Program: Responding to NLN’s Vision” was accepted for presentation at the National League for Nursing Education Summit in Las Vegas, Nev.
Lisa Herbinger presented multiple webinars for CRNAs including “Preanesthetic Evaluation and Premedication in Pediatrics,” “Common Postanesthesia Complications in Children,” Evidence Based Use of Cuffed Endotracheal Tubes in Children,” and “Pediatric Anesthesia Pharmacology.”
Jill Hightower was appointed to a Faculty Practice Position by the Alabama Board of Nursing and as a Member Director for the Alabama League for Nursing.
Jane Holston’s “Supporting Families in Relations and Faith: Key to Comfort” was published in the Journal of Christian Nursing.
Kristen Johnston earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in May 2015.
John Lundeen was appointed member of the Board of Governors; Chair of the CNE Test Development Committee and Member of the Certified Nurse Educator Commission, for the National League for Nursing.
John Lundeen received the Tommy Fuller Educator of the Year Award from the Alpha Eta Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi.

Frankie Wallis presented “Identifying Risk Factors Associated with Hospital Admissions for the Impatient Mental Health Patient” at the national meeting of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.
Frankie Wallis presented “Mentoring the New Nurse Graduate” at FACES, the annual continuing education program of the Alabama State Nurses Association.
Stephanie Wynn had two manuscripts accepted for publication by the Journal of Christian Nursing: “Spiritual Care of Veterans Outside of the Trenches” and “Reflecting on the Role of a Mental Health Practitioner following a Natural Disaster.”
Stephanie Wynn was recognized as an Interprofessional National Disaster Healthcare Content Expert by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
