Rebecca Warr began her career at Samford in 1981 as a nursing instructor with a joint appointment with Baptist Princeton Hospital as a staff nurse. She retired in May after 41 years teaching in what is now known as the Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing.

“I will miss working with the best colleagues who are dedicated to nursing, working together to share that with our students,” Warr said. “I will also miss seeing the lightbulb moments the students have as they grasp nursing concepts. Our students are the best.”

Warr says seeing her students grow from their first day of class through graduation was deeply rewarding.

“My favorite moments have been seeing each clinical group—seeing how they changed from their first day of clinicals to the final day and hearing them voice how much they have learned,” Warr said.

She also says she has been grateful to hear from students and alumni as they recognize how much of a difference they have made in the lives of their patients.

“I have been so blessed to work at Samford University. God has his hand on Samford, and I'm so thankful to have been a small part of it,” Warr said.
