Bradley Lail, PhD, MBA, CPA, joined the Brock School of Business faculty in 2026 as dean and professor of accounting. His primary teaching areas include financial accounting, accounting information systems and advanced Excel applications.

Brad earned his BBA and MBA from Baylor University and began his career as a staff auditor with EY. He spent the majority of his professional career at AT&T, serving in various roles in corporate finance and long-term financial planning. He later returned to academia and earned his PhD in accounting from the University of Oklahoma.

His academic career began as an assistant professor at North Carolina State University before he returned to Baylor University, where he earned tenure. He later served as chair of the Department of Accounting and Business Law and as associate dean of undergraduate programs. After three years in that role, he joined the Brock School of Business at Samford University in Birmingham.

His research focuses on how nonprofessional investors use financial statement information. His dissertation, “Do Cross-listers Bond to U.S. Markets? An Examination of Earnings Quality around SOX,” was published in Advances in Accounting. He has also published research in leading accounting journals, including Accounting Horizons, Journal of Financial Reporting, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Finance & Accounting and Journal of Management Accounting Research.

Throughout his academic career, Brad has served on committees focused on admissions, first-generation students, scholarships, undergraduate curriculum and global engagement. He has led study abroad programs to the Cayman Islands and Copenhagen and has received teaching awards from Baylor Student Government and Baylor University's business faculty.

Beyond the classroom, Brad is committed to serving both the church and the community. He previously served as an elder and deacon at Harris Creek Baptist Church, has served on the board of directors for Ridgewood Country Club and currently chairs the Covenant Partners board for Talitha Koum.
