Bre Mertz is an assistant professor of marketing in Samford University's Brock School of Business. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Doctorate in Marketing, a Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.

Mertz’s research focuses on topics that optimize individual well-being within Consumer Behavior (consumer well-being related to social media usage), Services (employee well-being, workplace dignity, and meaningful work), and Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking. Her research has been accepted by the Journal of Consumer Behavior and the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice. Mertz is passionate about pedagogy as it allows her to have an impact during such a pivotal time in students’ lives. She considers this opportunity an honor, and she is grateful to lead and learn alongside her students. She currently teaches Consumer Behavior, Social Media Marketing and Principles of Marketing.

Mertz worked in marketing and higher education for several years before pursuing academia full-time. However, she is also a proud entrepreneur of two businesses. Breanne Adele Photography, established in 2014, has remained a creative outlet that has led to her work being published commercially, digitally and in print. She also has experience providing marketing consulting services to small businesses and nonprofits through Mertz Consulting LLC, established in 2020, which continues to yield unique insight into the classroom and research. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, family, friends and pup.
