Shelby Law, a sophomore entrepreneurship major, is the owner of Labeled by Love. She launched her women’s clothing brand to combine her love for fashion with her passion for encouraging others to embrace their God-given identity. Labeled by Love offers trendy clothing items that reflect confidence, faith and individuality.

What is the story of your company? How did it start?

My company started around a year ago when I began to gain traction on social media for outfit inspiration. My calling began when I realized I should be doing what I love, sharing style inspiration, on a large scale.

Why did you want to join Samford Startup?

Being a part of the Samford Startup program is important to me because it will give me the opportunity to connect with others in similar positions to me. I will value the opinions and help of others. It also helps support me through several resources I would not have access to otherwise.

How has the Samford Startup program supported your business?

This program supports my business as it gives me an opportunity to be advised by people who have more experience than me. This interview process has already given me an opportunity to speak about my business.

What has been the most challenging part of launching your business? How did you overcome this?

The most challenging part of launching my business has been gaining traction. It can be difficult to reach people interested in purchasing clothes rather than just viewing a social media post.

How has the Samford Startup program helped you grow professionally?

The Samford Startup program has already helped me grow personally as it has given me an opportunity to speak about my business and gain communication and presentation skills.

What do you envision for your business?

I envision creating custom clothing for my store within the next year alongside the wholesale that I currently sell. I also hope to host several pop-up shops and see the process of a brick and mortar for the future.

How is your business redemptive in a Christ-like manner?

My business glorifies God through its overall message that God puts a label of love on all His people. This means essentially nothing can separate people from the love of God and I want that message to be portrayed through all Labeled by Love.

How do you see your company having an impact on the Samford and Birmingham communities?

I hope that LBL impacts the Samford and Birmingham community through sharing the love of God to all and helping girls find a style that lets them feel beautiful.

Why would you encourage other student entrepreneurs to join the Samford Startup program?

I would encourage others to join this program to gain resources and opportunities that they otherwise would not have. This program also provides a community of students that are like-minded and steering towards the same goals.
