For Emily Ehrnschwender ’17, data analytics has been a passion since her days at Samford. Now she channels that passion as senior analytics manager at WHOOP, a wearable technology company that helps people improve their health and performance through data-driven insights. Ehrnschwender leads a team focused on growth analytics, using data to strengthen how WHOOP acquires, engages and retains its members.

Her ability to step into a fast-moving, innovative company was shaped years earlier at Samford. Through the Brock Scholars and University Fellows programs, she designed her own curriculum in data analytics before it became a formal concentration, weaving together economics, statistics and math. She studied abroad to broaden her perspective and leaned on professors who encouraged her at every step.

“The most influential part of my Samford experience was the hands-on mentorship,” she said. “Their belief in me continues to shape my career to this day.”

That mentorship opened doors beyond the classroom. A professor’s connection led to her first role at a data consulting firm, while others guided her through graduate school with advice and recommendations. From there, she gained experience at a venture studio before joining WHOOP, where she continues to see her Samford foundation at work.

“The most rewarding part of working at WHOOP is knowing we’re helping people live healthier, more fruitful lives through lasting behavior change,” she said. “I’m energized by the progress we’ve made and hopeful for WHOOP’s continued growth as we empower more people around the world.”
