Luke Ates joined the advancement team in January 2023 as a Development Officer for the College of Health Sciences at Samford University. With a strong foundation in development work, Luke brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his role.

Before his transition to supporting the College of Health Sciences, Luke served as the Worship and Student Pastor at Church of the Highlands for three impactful years. His leadership skills and commitment to nurturing community connections were evident during his tenure.

Prior to his pastoral role, Luke played a pivotal role in higher education development as the Director of College and External Relations at Huntingdon College. Here, he spearheaded various development initiatives, contributing significantly to the institution's growth and outreach efforts.

Luke's academic journey is marked by his dedication to both education and athletics. He earned his Master’s in Philanthropy and Development from Saint Mary’s University in Minnesota while actively involved in development work at Huntingdon College. Before pursuing his Master’s degree, Luke showcased his athleticism as a student-athlete at Lawson State Community College, later transferring to Huntingdon College to complete his college eligibility in baseball, culminating in the achievement of a Bachelor of Science degree.
