Melissa comes to Samford from Jacksonville State University, where she worked in the simulation lab. Prior to JSU, she was the program coordinator for the nursing assistant, phlebotomy and medication assistant programs at Gadsden State Community College. While at GSCC, the medication assistant program had the highest pass rate in the state of Alabama.

She has been a nurse for 21 years with experience in PCU, surgery, long-term care and home health care. She is happily married and has three children.
