As AI continues to transform industries worldwide, Darin White, Margaret Gage Bush Distinguished Professor of Business at Samford University Brock School of Business, is encouraging students and professionals to think carefully about its impact. He also challenges them to consider how faith should guide the responsible use of emerging technology.

In his recent article, “Students Need a Bigger Story Than AI,” published by The Gospel Coalition, White, founder of Samford’s sports industry program, explores the growing influence of artificial intelligence, its implications for Christian higher education and the future of work. He argues that while AI will play an essential role in business innovation, it must remain a tool that supports human flourishing rather than defining human identity.

White emphasizes that Christian business education uniquely prepares students to navigate technological change through a biblical understanding of work, leadership and calling. While AI can increase efficiency and analyze information at scale, he notes it cannot replace wisdom, ethical judgment or purpose rooted in faith.

At Brock School of Business, this integration of faith and professional preparation remains central to the student experience. Faculty seek to equip graduates not only with technical and analytical skills but also with character and discernment needed to lead responsibly in rapidly evolving industries.

White’s message reinforces Samford University’s broader mission to develop leaders who view their careers as vocations. As AI adoption accelerates across business sectors, White encourages students to approach innovation with humility, stewardship and a commitment to honoring God through their work.

By placing artificial intelligence within a faith-informed framework, White says Christian universities have an opportunity to prepare graduates who leverage new technologies while remaining grounded in enduring biblical truth.
