Before joining Samford's faculty, Richard Rush served as an assistant professor of public relations at Belmont University. As an educator, Rush has been able to use his strengths as an achiever, learner, maximizer and individualizer to engage his students in courses such as Public Relations Writing for Journalistic Media, Crisis Communication, Event Planning, Visual Communication, Design Application and Mass Media Production. In his professional career, Rush used these same strengths to build success as a player relations liaison with the University of Alabama Football Program, as an account director and strategic marketing consultant for Cummings Creative Group, and as the communication and marketing coordinator at Birmingham-Southern College. Rush’s research predominantly focuses on crisis and health communication in sport. He and his wife, Kelsey, enjoy running, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
