Chuck Stokes comes to the department of Sociology after having served the previous two years as a Scholar-in-Residence at Samford and as Roy Bergengren Fellow at the John Templeton Center for Thrift and Generosity. Before completing his doctorate at the University of Texas at Austin, Chuck was an undergraduate, graduate, and Residence Life professional at Samford. His current research examines the educational trajectories of young evangelical Protestants and the impact of parental divorce on the lives of young adults. A native of South Carolina, Chuck grew up a big fan of the Clemson Tigers and remains a college football nut. While happy to play just about any sport, his favorite hobby is spending time with his wife, Betsy, and their two children, Charlie (11) and Claire Ellen (9).
