April 7, 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Christenberry Planetarium

Samford University’s Department of Psychology will host a lecture on Tuesday, April 7 at 4 p.m. in the Christenberry Planetarium. The event marks the official kickoff of Brain Awareness Week (BAW), an annual initiative led by the Howard College of Arts and Sciences Neuroscience Program.

This year’s featured speaker is Kelly Lambert, Trawick Professor of Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Richmond and a distinguished Samford alumna. An internationally recognized psychologist, Lambert’s research explores how everyday experiences shape brain function and behavior—a concept she refers to as “behavioral neuroplasticity.”

Her lecture, titled “Brain Sculpting: Experience-Driven Neuroplasticity from Samford to the Neuroverse,” will examine how intentional actions and environments can positively influence brain health, offering both scientific insight and practical application.

Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to attend this special event celebrating neuroscience, discovery and the impact of meaningful experiences on the brain.
