Math and CP 2023 Awards

On April 6, the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science recognized the outstanding achievements of its majors, including graduating seniors, department award winners, honor society inductees and students receiving cords and certificates. Attendees also heard an inspirational message from Samford Instructor Scott Crews '05, who received his master's degree in cybersecurity from Georgia Tech in 2021. 

2023 Math and Computer Science graduates are as follows:

  • Math Majors: Ally Lee, Madelyn Mixon, Zach Overton (Ph.D. in statistics at Baylor), Thomas Reinke (Ph.D. in statistics at Baylor), Callie Ware (Master's in education at Samford), Sarah Westmoreland (Ph.D. in applied mathematics at Iowa State University)
  • Math and Computer Science Double Major Merritt Cahoon (Master's in bioethics and tech policy at Duke University)
  • Computer Science Majors: Allison Dusek (Master's in biomedical engineering at Florida International University), Michael Halverson, Bailey Holland (software engineer at Missile Defense Agency in Huntsville, AL), JaKia Hood (McLeod Software in Birmingham), Corey McDaniels (Master's in computer science at Auburn), Jake Moultrie (commissioned as a 2nd LT in the Air Force, Cyber Operations, at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS), Adonis Ojendyk, Thomas Walker

Pi Mu Epsilon Math honor society inductees include:
