Dr. Charles Ford is a professor in the Department of Interior Architecture, teaching in the areas of Building Systems, Digital Communication, Historic Preservation, and Sustainable Design. Prior to joining Samford University in 2006, he taught eight years in secondary and post-secondary education. Prior to teaching, he worked in various design firms for seven years. He serves on the Bessemer Hall of History’ board of overseers, ADDA International Board of Directors, committee member of Energy/Existing Building/Green/Property Maintenance/Zoning Code Interpretation Committee (ECIC) and participates widely in various industry-related events. He is an active member of IDEC, The International Code Council, and the Southeast Chapter Society of Architectural Historians.Research areas include image-based inquiry, vernacular architecture of Alabama,and sustainable design.
