Welcome to the School of the Arts at Samford University. Whether you’re exploring the next step in your educational journey or looking to partner with a community where the arts are thriving, I’m glad you’re here.

Dean Lance Beaumont

At Samford, we believe the arts are essential—not optional—to the formation of thoughtful, resilient, and imaginative leaders. In today’s ever-changing world, artists, designers, performers, and ministry leaders have the power to shape culture, provoke meaningful dialogue, and reflect the truth, beauty, and complexity of the human experience. That’s why we’ve built a school that is as rigorous as it is personal, as forward-thinking as it is rooted in purpose.

The School of the Arts is home to five academic areas: Architecture & Interior Design, Art & Design, Christian Ministry, Music, and Theatre & Dance. In every discipline, our faculty bring a unique blend of professional excellence and personal investment. They are active practitioners, scholars, and mentors who walk alongside students every step of the way. Our students are challenged to grow not only in skill but in purpose, as they discover how their God-given gifts can contribute meaningfully to the world.

We are a community of doers—students who create, perform, design, and serve with intention. Here, you’ll find state-of-the-art facilities, a curriculum that equips you for the future, and a deeply supportive environment where bold ideas are welcomed and explored. Whether on stage, in the studio, in a sanctuary, or out in the field, our students engage real-world challenges and opportunities through performance, internships, research, and global experiences.

If you’re a prospective student, I invite you to visit campus and experience our community for yourself. If you’re a parent or supporter, thank you for entrusting your student to us. And if you’re part of our growing network of alumni, donors, and friends, I’m grateful for the role you play in helping us advance our mission.

At Samford’s School of the Arts, we don’t just train artists—we cultivate whole people. We prepare students to lead lives of meaning, to design their future with confidence and creativity, and to make an impact that echoes far beyond the classroom.

Thank you for your interest in our school. I look forward to welcoming you to campus.

Warmly,

Dr. Lance Beaumont
