Greetings. Welcome to the Samford University School of the Arts website. The students and faculty of the School of the Arts are a community of artists working together in areas of art, graphic design, interior architecture, theatre, dance, church music, music education, music theatre, opera, instrumental music (band, jazz and orchestra), theory, music history, vocal/choral music, piano, piano pedagogy, organ, composition and the preparatory music department.
The Samford Arts community is distinguished by the accomplishments of faculty, students and alumni who carry the scholarship and creative activity of the university around the world. Samford artists, actors and musicians guide national and international arts organizations, perform in the world’s greatest venues and help prepare the next generation of arts students. Whether producing a Tony award–winning Broadway show, performing a leading role at the Metropolitan Opera or serving as an embedded photojournalist in the Iraqi war, Samford artists represent the highest standards of achievement and character. They demonstrate that faith truly enhances the quality and impact of our talent and work.
School of the Arts students share an innovative curriculum, Catalyst, which is designed for the next generation of artists. The new course structure provides a collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment for students to prepare for today's job market while developing skills to fulfill meaningful vocations. The program culminates in an immersive senior Catalyst project, providing a professional-level experience.
