Samford University officially launched the School of the Arts Alumni Chapter on May 1, creating a new platform for graduates to reconnect with one another, engage with current students and faculty and remain actively involved in the life and future of the school.
The School of the Arts Alumni Chapter is part of Samford’s broader school-based alumni engagement initiative, designed to strengthen relationships between alumni and their academic homes. The program builds on the strong sense of shared identity alumni feel toward their school and provides additional opportunities to connect more meaningfully with Samford University.
“Our alumni carry the School of the Arts with them wherever their paths lead,” said Lance Beaumont, dean of the School of the Arts. “This chapter is an invitation to continue that relationship—to stay connected to the people, the work and the purpose that helped shape who they are today.”
The School of the Arts Alumni Chapter brings together graduates from across disciplines to celebrate creativity, foster community and support the next generation of artists and leaders. Through events and engagement opportunities, the chapter will serve as a bridge between alumni accomplishments and the academic and artistic work happening on campus.
The chapter will offer opportunities to engage through a variety of gatherings and experiences, including social events, conversations with faculty, opportunities to connect with students and collaborative experiences unique to the School of the Arts. These efforts are intended to deepen alumni affinity for their school while strengthening their connection to the Samford University Alumni Association.
Beyond engagement, the chapter provides a meaningful avenue for alumni to invest in the continued growth and impact of the School of the Arts. Alumni involvement will play a key role in supporting students, enhancing visibility for the school and advancing Samford’s mission.
The School of the Arts Alumni Chapter will be guided by alumni volunteers who serve in leadership roles, working in collaboration with School leadership and the Samford University Alumni Association. Alumni interested in serving on the chapter’s leadership team are encouraged to apply; the leadership application will be open through the month of May.
“Leadership within this chapter is about service,” Beaumont said. “It’s an opportunity for alumni to share their experience, help build community and support students who are discovering their own callings in the arts.”
Membership in the School of the Arts Alumni Chapter is open to all alumni of the school and does not require a fee. All graduates are automatically members and invited to participate at whatever level fits their season of life.
