Dr. Delane Tew is an Alabama native and Samford University Alumna. Before her academic career she served as a missionary to Japan for twelve years. After receiving her Ph.D. from Auburn University, Dr. Tew taught at Judson College and Carson-Newman College before returning to Samford.
Dr. Tew’s main research interests include Southern history, Women’s history, and Church history. She is a member of The Southern Association of Historians where she has presented a paper in the past. She has also served as president of the Baptist History and Heritage Society. She has presented several papers at the Society’s annual meetings and published both articles and book reviews in its journal.
In her free time Dr. Tew enjoys beading, reading murder mysteries, and playing with her three dogs. She is an active member of a local Baptist Church where she has served on several committees and as a deacon.
