Samford University’s Department of Communication and Media inducted 17 students into the Lambda Pi Eta and Kappa Tau Alpha honor societies during a ceremony held March 31. These honors recognize academic excellence and professional promise in communication and journalism. 

Lambda Pi Eta

Lambda Pi Eta is the official honor society of the National Communication Association. It promotes outstanding academic achievement in communication studies.

“These inductees are an especially meaningful group,” said Niya Miller, associate professor of communication studies and faculty adviser for Lambda Pi Eta. “They reflect not only strong academic achievement, but a commitment to ethical communication, curiosity and engaged citizenship—qualities that matter now more than ever.”

Kappa Tau Alpha

Kappa Tau Alpha is a national honor society that recognizes academic excellence in journalism and mass communication.

“This year’s inductees exemplify academic excellence alongside strong work ethic, creativity and a genuine passion for the field,” said Nia Johnson, associate professor of communication and media and faculty adviser for Kappa Tau Alpha. “We are proud to celebrate their achievements and excited to see the impact they will make.”

This year’s Kappa Tau Alpha inductees include:

  • Sophie Cabrera
  • Kate Seaver
  • Annabel Turner

In addition to these inductions, senior Sophie Cabrera was recognized for earning top undergraduate honors.
