Samford University’s Mock Trial Team had tremendous success at its first competition. The Samford students defeated teams from Auburn University and the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga to take second place at the Kennesaw State University Owl Classic Invitational Oct. 25.

Two members of Samford’s team received individual awards. Freshman history major Kaitlin Mullen was honored as Most Outstanding Attorney on the plaintiff side of the case. Freshman history major Miranda Mason was honored as Most Outstanding Witness.

Samford political science professor and prelaw advisor Marissa Grayson said Samford placed above many other highly competitive schools, including Florida State University, Georgia Tech University, Emory University and the University of Miami.

The team will compete again at Middle Tennessee State University Nov. 14 and 15.
