Samford community,

In response to the survey of all May graduates and the feedback of the ad hoc commencement committee, I am pleased to share with you that Samford has tentatively rescheduled Spring commencement ceremonies for August 13-15, 2020. Specific details regarding the date and times for each ceremony will be provided in the coming weeks, but I am sharing these plans with you now so that you may hold the dates on your calendar.

May graduates will have their degrees conferred as scheduled and diplomas will be mailed to the address designated on the graduation application. This will not be impacted by the ceremony date.

Regalia will be distributed as a part of scheduled commencement activities. It is important to note that commencement plans are contingent on government regulations and how the summer health outlook progresses. Due to the ongoing challenge and uncertainty of COVID-19, there is still a possibility that the August ceremonies will have to be rescheduled. Should circumstances change in a way that prevents ceremonies in August, we will honor all 2020 graduates in December.

Additional details will be provided as soon as possible. Given that plans will depend heavily on government regulations and recommendations, specifics will likely not be available until early June. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we seek to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates while also ensuring the health and safety of our Samford community.

I am incredibly proud of the class of May 2020 and appreciate their feedback in this planning process. I look forward to recognizing their many achievements soon.
