As noted in last week's update, this email provides you with important information related to our Fall 2021 Baseline PCR Testing. 

With faculty gathering for New Beginnings the week of August 23, 2021, we’ve established the week of August 16 as the date for all employees to test. This year, we would like to minimize inconvenience to our employees by providing a “one-stop” option.

Of course, if you prefer, you may submit a negative PCR test result obtained at your cost from your own healthcare provider. Either way, the PCR test must be taken August 16-18, 2021 with results on file no later than August 23, 2021. It is your responsibility to ensure you have a negative test result delivered to Samford by this date.

Test Options

Employees have three options for meeting Baseline Testing requirements for the Fall 2021 semester. 

  • OPTION 1: Samford will host an on-campus, drive-up Baseline Testing clinic for employees August 16-18, 2021.  Tests will be self-administered in your vehicle, collected by Samford staff and delivered to the lab for you. This eliminates the need to UPS your result while reducing the risk of lost or damaged tests.  Results will be emailed to you and automatically uploaded to Samford, usually within 48 hours. 
  • OPTION 2: Only for employees who will not be in Birmingham during the on-campus testing clinic, you may request for a PCR test kit to be mailed to you at no cost.  As was the case last fall and again in January, we are using Everlywell as our test kit provider.  Detailed instructions will be provided with your test kit.
    • FOR EITHER OPTION 1 OR 2, please make sure you have created an account at prior to attending the on-campus clinic or receiving your test kit in the mail.  Most employees already have an account on file with Everlywell since they provided our testing last year. You will need to use the email address you provided during your initial registration in order to register your test kit and access results.

  • OPTION 3: You may choose to provide a negative PCR test result obtained from your personal healthcare provider at your own expense. All tests must be administered August 16-18, 2021.  Samford does not accept test results from home testing kits. Employees selecting this option must upload their negative PCR test result to the university portal using this link( You may submit a negative PCR result from samples taken via nasal swab, oral rinse, or any FDA approved administration technique.


Employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 since June 1, 2021 should not retest but instead should upload documentation of their previous positive COVID-19 test result here (

Return to the website often, as new FAQs and campus protocols will be added and existing ones may be modified.
